#BookReview|Buddy read|RagDoll|Daniel Cole

My second buddy read this year I did with the lovely Helen Pryke, Author. If you haven’t guessed already Helen is not only an author I follow, support and admire she is my friend. This book came on offer/free on Amazon, I already had it in paperback and Amazon told Helen she already had it so we said why not do a buddy read. My first buddy read was a bit short lived but that didn’t put me off. It was really fun doing this with Helen it’s great seeing a book read through an authors eyes and seeing the different perspectives that I as a reader might not necessarily have picked up on. I had an absolute blast doing this buddy read, thank you Helen!

My Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4 Stars Wow. What a book! Having had this book given to me a while ago I decided to read it with a friend. Right from the beginning this book grabs you and pulls you in. A grizzly discovery of a mishmashed body leads to a race against time to uncover who and why this unthinkable crime has taken place. A great, diverse set of characters that you can’t help but love are well written and developed throughout. An original well thought out story that keeps you on tender hooks. With plenty of dark, witty banter between characters that breaks up the constant tension. The quick yet fully descriptive chapters add to the fast pace of the story and add to the need and want to read more. My only issue with the book was the ending after such a fantastic build up it felt a little flat in my opinion. That being said the authors job is done as I now want to read the next book. This aside i would still highly recommend it, the writing is excellent.

Helen’s Review **** 4 Stars The story drew me in right from the beginning, with fast-paced action that didn’t let up for most of the book. A body is found, made up from parts of 6 different victims, and the race is on to find out who did it and why.

Great characters who grow on you, dark British humour at the most inappropriate times, a fantastic story line that keeps you on your toes, inventive ways of killing off the victims, a killer who’s one step ahead of the cops – this book has all the ingredients of a fantastic thriller.

I loved the constant tension and the way the story built up to the grand finale, which then fell a bit flat for me. I’m not going to spoil it – but after such an enthralling story, I was expecting something different.

Regardless of that, it’s an excellent read and I highly recommend it!
